One of the joys of being a nurse is the innordinate amount of leisure days that I have at my dispense. As a result I have recently had many opportunities to enjoy several mini vacations in spite of my husband's protests.
More than one vacation a year wasn't in the plan at the ripe old age of Seven. As I child I always imagined myself as the 'career woman', slogging away at the office, working 70-200 hours per week to meet project deadlines, proposals and sales targets. My personal secretary would tell me that it was my 900th day at work and that I really should take a vacation. I would reply that I didn't need a vacation because I loved my work so much that it energized me more than a vacation ever would. My day dream usually included a really cute and well matched outfit with really high heels. I would carry a briefcase, ride a taxi and have really nice legs. I basically think I wanted to be a sex symbol for some pantyhose commercial. I thought that long as I could ride to work in a taxi, tip generouly and then step out to face my life with really nice shoes and long legs, I would be 'successful'.
In reality, I've chosen an occupation that requires me to wear an outfit akin to cheap and badly made pajamas with shoes that resemble swollen duck feet. Not that I am complaining. Another great aspect of my job, is that I get to use my brain which clearly was not a priority in elementary school!!!!!
Above and beyond the great outfit and challenging work, the best part about being a nurse are the days off in the middle of the week. This week my friend Laura and I went on a beautiful hike to Ollalie lake. It wasn't a particularly difficult trek but we felt great! It so nice to be out in the fresh air and breath in the forest smells.
Enjoy the pictures!!
