Thursday night, I saw " Walking to Werner" by Linus Phillips at the Seattle International Film Festival. I was listening to NPR in the morning and heard an interview with Linus Phillips. His journey (he walked from Seattle to Los Angeles) sounded very interesting so I bought a ticket. Initially, he was walking out of an inspiration from this filmaker Werner Herzog who walked from Munich to Paris in the 1970's to visit an ailing friend. The famous filmaker's theory was that life needs to be experienced by foot in order to be felt in full. Linus decided to walk to meet Werner. The only problem was that he finds out a few days into the trip that Werner isn't even going to be there!!! The trip becomes a walk that is bigger than it's original intention and speaks of the importance of our individual journeys on this planet. It was a perfect movie to see on my own and I loved the filmaker's self-analysis and transparency in emotion. I would highly reccomend for anyone to go see this great flick!!!
