Guest Posting: Observations from the womb

Hello world,

This is my inaugural foray into writing on this blog. Please be patient because I'm only about 27 weeks old right now. Personally, I find it impressive that I already know words like foray. The attached picture isn't really of me. I'm a bit shy and my mommy and daddy don't want to know whether I'm a boy or a girl yet. I know, but I'm not telling!!! Anyways, because of that, I decided I wouldn't show you a new picture of me, but give you a picture of what I might look like if they decided to take pictures of me.

The past week was certainly interesting from my vantage point. My parents drove up to Canada to visit Grandma and Grandpa Lendrum. Apparently it was Grandpa's 60th birthday or something. I don't know my numbers yet, but that sounds pretty exciting. I got to meet my uncle David and my aunt Sarah, and my Great grandparents, Doris and Bob. I'm getting a bit confused, because apparently I have two uncles named David, two aunts named Sarah and two Great Grandmas named Doris. Also, apparently Daddy's name is Dave too, so that is even more confusing. The good news is, when I can start speaking, I won't have to learn as many words. I also heard a lot about my cousins 'Mike' and 'Kate'. I don't know if those are their real names, but everyone calls them that, so I'll call them that too. I really enjoyed watching Grandpa's reaction as grandma and her friends danced by in hula costumes.

This week has been pretty fun. I'm preparing to be a soccer player. I practice by kicking Mommy in the cervix. Everyone seems to be really excited by my soccer playing, because whenever I play, people keep touching mommy's belly. Daddy keeps on touching mommy's belly but now I know it's him so I intentionally stop kicking. It's a bit dark in here. My eyes just started working and I really wish someone would turn on the lights. I'd run to Home Depot and buy a halogen lamp, but I don't have any place to put one yet. I guess I'll have to wait. Also, I'm definitely getting a bit more cramped. I'm now around two pounds and about 14 inches long, so there isn't much more room in this place for me. I think my lease runs out in May, so I'll try to bide my time until then.

Mommy has been on her feet all week, so I'm trying to signal her to sit down by making her back hurt. She has worked the past three days in a row and that is around 36 hours in three days. She seems pretty tired. Daddy seems tired too. He is working all week with 9th and 10th graders and based on the stories that he tells, sometimes I'm more mature than they are and I'm not even born yet! Also, he's been sick so he makes lots of strange noises and his voice sounds funny. The cool thing is, I can hear him, now that my ears are functioning. I particularly like it when he sings to me. Well, I'm looking forward to meeting you all. I suppose I'll write again soon. Once I move out of my current living situation, I'm sure it'll be great to be able to see you with a bit more light.

Signing off from the Womb,

Wiggles L. Fort
