Four hours of sitting in a car comes close to my maximum tolerance for a 'road trip'. I usually do okay if there are a lot of stops and the destination promises to be filled with opportunities for physical activity. I think that I inherited this impatience from my parents as I remember that it used to take us an entire day to drive from Vancouver to Seattle to visit my cousins (no wonder why Seattle seemed so far away when I was a kid)!!
My husband on the other hand doesn't really mind sitting in a car. Actually, he is so unfettered by the thought of long road trips that he volunteered to drive all of the canoes and kayaks from Seattle to Gainsville Georgia for the National Canoe/Kayak regatta. Not only is he driving 2729.69 miles, he and his buddy are doing it in 3 days!!!!
Dave left yesterday morning. So far, it has been a pretty surreal experience for the both of us. I have been working the past two days so I have called him on my breaks and when I get home. Every time we have talked, he has been in a different state!!From a nursing point of view, I worry about skin break down. I should have given him some profilactic bandages on his toosh or something.
Dave actually sounds really good and it if they get as far as they had planned tonight, they will arrive in Gainsville tommorow. Quite an adventure.
I on the other hand am flying to my Grandparent's cabin on Kootney Lake on Sunday. I will be there for a week with my mom, dad, sister, aunt, uncle and cousin. If I get to an internet cafe, I will be sure to post an update.
